When routines change

The hardest part of my current journey is the loss of my previous successful routines.  Trying to change your routines is not an easy task.  It took years to get them to a point where it was effortless effort.  Then that routine was lost.

These last few weeks I was going to ask for help.  Trying to find suggestions that will help me get back into a new routine.  Then in one of my courses it was emphasized that if you do not schedule time for you it will be lost. It was my lightbulb moment.  I was looking for a quick fix to a new routine instead of blocking time and being consistent.

Tuesday I went for my re-evaluation at physio.  I was worried because I hadn’t been doing my exercises routinely.  I thought there would be little improvement but I had a good improvement.  We talked about what I’ve done in the last two months.  I’ve been doing more in KF class, practicing Tai Chi at home even a small amount on top of my classes, I joined a yoga class,  I would incorporate a physio exercise into my other activities.  I increased my steps from 3000 to 6000 daily. I was doing more which was good but my physio emphasized that if I add in that structured exercises I could be even better BUT it’s finding that fine line between improving and doing too much. So after my re-evaluation, I was discharged from physio and that was so exciting!

Does that mean everything is great?  Unfortunately no. The souls of my feet still hurt especially at night and my team is now looking at neuropathy.  But I’ve seen little improvements so I’ll keep moving forward.

Now I am asking for help with a new intent.  I am no longer looking for a golden nugget, I am looking for gold flakes and I know that it’s all up to me with what I do with them.  So “If you have found something that worked when your routine HAD to change, please let me know.”

  1. Doing bits and pieces throughout the day worked for many years and when my schedule changed I switched to more of a morning routine which worked quite well. I seem to be back to little bits throughout the day and trying to finish the bulk of my training in the evening.
